How do you map a DNA match?


  1. From any page on Ancestry®, click the DNA tab and select DNA Matches.
  2. Near the top of the page, click Map.
  3. Click a pin on the map to see details. Zoom in on an area by clicking a numbered pin or the + zoom button.
  4. To filter by relationship, click Filter.

How many centimorgans do first cousins share?

First cousins share an average of 12.5% of their DNA; or 866 centimorgans. The expected range of shared centimorgans is 396-1397, according to the shared centimorgan project.

How do we estimate DNA relationships?

In the 23andMe DNA Relatives feature, we estimate the genealogical relationship between two individuals. We do this by comparing your autosomal DNA (chromosomes 1-22) and X chromosome(s) with other 23andMe members who are participating in the DNA Relatives feature.
