- author (if available)
- year produced (if available)
- title of image (or a description)
- Format and any details (if applicable)
- name and place of the sponsor of the source.
- accessed day month year (the date you viewed/ downloaded the image)
How do I cite an online image?
To make citing easier, as you conduct your research, we recommend you keep track of:
- Image creator’s name (artist, photographer, etc.)
- Title of the image.
- Date the image (or work represented by the image) was created.
- Date the image was posted online.
- Date of access (the date you accessed the online image)
Do pictures need to be cited?
Images must be cited like all other resources. If you use an image you did not create, you must provide a citation, even if the image is very small, or in the public domain.
How do you cite a Google image?
Artist Last Name, First name (if available). “Title of image” or your own description of the image. Title of the website where it was originally published,* date it was published (if available), URL. *Note: Make sure you use the name of the website where the image is posted, not just Google.
